19 de September de 2022

They come from Sweden, Iceland and Denmark and want to get to know the municipality in order to offer it to a female target group who are looking for places where they can do sports, take care of themselves and relax

The Maresme welcomes these days different Nordic tour operators (Sweden, Iceland and Denmark) who have come on a trip to discover the territory, a very common practice in the tourism sector to have the tools to recommend certain destinations to customers. Its aim is to find out what Santa Susanna and the region can offer to see if it fits a very specific target group: the middle-aged female public who wants to practice sports but also have time to relax and take care of themselves. In other words, tour operators are looking for a destination that offers sports and wellness or wellness tourism, combining yoga, pilates, cycling, running or paddle surfing activities with spa sessions and massages, a growing trend.

The characteristics of Santa Susanna and the Maresme as a whole, with the beach for practicing nautical and water sports, the mountain for hiking and cycling and a whole range of accommodation with spas and spas, make it an ideal destination to combine these two types of tourism are intrinsically linked. In addition, the region’s climate is ideal for carrying out all these activities, an aspect highly valued in the Nordic countries precisely because of the difference in weather conditions.

This is an action organized by the Catalan Tourism Agency and the Diputació de Barcelona. Trips to discover the territory are made by tour operators who manage a whole tourist offer that they propose directly to interested tourists, but also by journalists, especially those who specialize in travel, so that they can get to know the territory first hand before writing their articles.

On this visit we were accompanied by Ágústa from Iceland, Gudrun from Iceland and Anders from Sweden, and Mrs. Mercè López Tourism technician of the Santa Susanna City Council.
