Santa Susanna is crowned as a benchmark in fitness with the Arnold and the professional world championship

Arnold Schwarzenegger, actor and former governor of California, participates by videoconference in the opening ceremony of the competition together with the mayor and the president of the International Federation.

The tourist destination Santa Susanna, recognized as the world capital of fitness, a sport with millions of followers, has hosted from December 10 to 13 the prestigious and world-renowned Arnold Classic Europe, and the IFBB (International Federation) Professional Bodybuilding & Fitness World Championship bodybuilding and Fitness). The IFBB has once again placed its trust in Santa Susanna, in its organizational capacity and in its modern hotel plant, after successfully hosting the Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness, Senior & Master World Championship and the IFBB World Congress 2020 last November.

As a result of the conversations held between the mayor of Santa Susanna, Joan Campolier; the creator of the Arnold Classic competition, Arnold Schwarzenegger; and the president of the IFBB, Rafael Santonja; and in constant contact with the General Secretariat of Sport of the Generalitat and the Higher Sports Council, a new step could be made to crown our town as an absolute benchmark in fitness, with the Arnold Classic Europe 2020.

The Arnold Classic multisport competition and event was created by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the city of Columbus (Ohio-USA) in 1989. Thanks to its popularity and acceptance, this model spread to different continents with great success: Arnold Classic Africa (Johannesburg 2,019); Arnold Classic Australia 2019 (Melbourne 2019); Arnold Classic Asia (Hong Kong 2019); and Arnold Classic Europe (Barcelona 2019).

The Arnold Classic Europe 2020 edition was held together with the IFBB Professional Bodybuilding & Fitness World Championship in the pavilion of the Park of Colomer. There have competed more than 650 athletes considered the best male and female athletes in the world of Fitness.

The opening ceremony of the competition was co-chaired by Mayor Campolier, IFBB President Dr. Santonja and via live videoconference by former California Governor and former actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger welcomed the athletes and thanked Santa Susanna for hosting the event.

To carry out this international event, according to the strictest protocols of the Covid-19, a large 36-meter-long stage was available with more than 400 square meters of backstage. There were also 2 led screens of more than 4 meters that accompanied a scenography in the usual dimensions of the Arnold Classic.

The Santa Susanna project, the fitness capital of the world, was born in 2003 and to date, more than 28 international championships have been held and more than 46,000 elite athletes have competed in Santa Susanna.
