15 de October de 2019

The objective is to become a reference to consolidate the competitiveness and sustainability of the tourism model.

Santa Susanna has joined the Network of Intelligent Tourist Destinations promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism of the Government of Spain.

The executive commission of the DTI Network, held on Wednesday, October 2 in Madrid, approved the incorporation of 19 new members to this network.

Along with the City Council of Santa Susanna they have also entered – among others – Bilbao, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Seville, Valladolid, Vinaròs, Benicàssim, Cáceres or the Diputación de Granada.

The objective of the network is to promote the conversion to smart destinations of the tourist areas that have made this sector one of its main sources of income. The network promotes collaboration between the public sector but also with the private sector.

And one of the most important objectives is to guarantee the sustainability of the tourism model that, in the case of Santa Susanna, represents non-massification, the conservation of the environment and nature, and the commitment to family and sports tourism.

The network offers to its members access to information on state aid and European funds. A total of 66 tourist destinations are already part of this network. Santa Susanna has experience in the use of new technologies and, above all, innovation in its tourism sector.

It has been one of the pioneer towns, for example, in the use of the global digital tourism platform Inventrip, in close collaboration with the Barcelona Provincial Council. Santa Susanna explained her model at the Smart City World Congress held in November 2017 in Barcelona.
