From April 28 to May 2, the town will host the summit of the International Sports Press Association, its centenary celebration and the Sport Media Awards gala with representatives from the IOC, FIFA and UEFA, among others

Santa Susanna will once again be at the epicenter of elite world sport thanks to the town’s celebration of the 86th Congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS). It is the most important organization of sports journalists on the planet, with more than 15,000 members.

For five days, the AIPS Congress will bring together the best of sports journalism and the main leaders of the world of sports and athletes of the moment. Almost 300 people from 110 countries, which at certain times can exceed 400, will share concerns, experiences and projects linked to professional sport. This fact will serve for the image of Santa Susanna to reach all corners of the planet.

86th Congress of the Association

The AIPS Congress will take place at the Hotel Atzavara. The elite of international sports journalism will discuss the future of the profession and how it is affected by the increase in content creators and influencers. One of the topics they will discuss is the impact of Artificial Intelligence in sport. Journalists, presidents and senior sports officials from international federations and experts from organizations such as Unesco have confirmed their participation in the debate.

The debate on sports journalism from a gender perspective is also part of the agenda of the Congress which will have presentations from the International Olympic Committee, FIFA, UEFA, IFBB, the Special Olympics, European athletics , FISU, Erasmus, among others.

The AIPS Sport Media Awards

On April 29, the Sport Media Awards ceremony will be held at the Sports Pavilion. These are the highest international awards in sports journalism. The awards recognize the best sports storytellers across all platforms, from photography to video, from graphic to digital journalism, from podcasts to sports blogs, print media, radio, television, and more. . The ceremony is streamed worldwide.

The Centenary year

This AIPS Congress is very special and symbolic because this year marks the first centenary of the organization, which was born in Paris on July 2, 1924. The International Sports Press Association has more than 15,000 members from 161 countries around the world. It is chaired by the Italian journalist, Gianni Merlo.
