On the first day of the World Congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), the mayor of Santa Susanna, Joan Campolier, addressed the 400 attendees from the five continents in this way: “They have chosen you very well and I assure you that they have not made a mistake”. Campolier was referring to the fact that the main association of the sports press around the world chose Santa Susanna to hold its 86th congress, which coincides with the centenary of the association born in 1924.

For four days, Santa Susanna has been the host municipality for those attending the AIPS Sport Media Awards Congress and Gala. And in all the public and private interventions that Mayor Campolier has made during these years, he has not tired of explaining the goodness of the town, which he has compared to an oasis. The opinion of sports leaders, sports journalists and athletes who have come to these events not only does not disprove this, but reinforces the idea that Santa Susanna is an ideal place to hold major competitions or work meetings because it allows combine it with a privileged natural environment, with quiet leisure and sports activity.

Santa Susanna has been working for more than a year to achieve this AIPS summit that allows the municipality to be part of the history of this centenary association with more than 15,000 members worldwide.

The 86th AIPS Congress, apart from its internal work, has hosted numerous presentations by the organizers of the Paris Olympics, UEFA, FIFA, the European Athletics Championship, Unesco, FISU, the America’s Sailing Cup, among others. Also within the framework of this summit, Edwin Moses, considered the king of the 400 meter hurdles race, presented his autobiographical film, “Moses 13 steps”, on Monday. Moses was Olympic gold in the games of Montreal (1976) and Los Angeles (1984) and bronze in Seoul (1988); he was also world champion in Helsinki (1983) and in Rome (1987). Moses is currently President of the United States Anti-Doping Agency and President of the Laureus Academy.
